ABOUT US
The University of Wisconsin – Madison is one of 27 institutions nationwide that will recruit families to participate in the HBCD Study. Led by Dr. Doug Dean and Dr. Julie Poehlmann, our team has studied infant and child brain development for more than 25 years. Our multi-disciplinary team includes developmental neuroscientists, obstetricians, lawyers, psychologists, child behavior scientists, and outreach specialists. We are excited that our team also includes three study navigators who are available to offer support throughout the study as well as provide local resources to anyone in the study who is interested. Our study navigators are either certified as peer support specialists, substance use counselors, and/or have lived experience. Our team members have experience working with moms and children from diverse backgrounds, including moms who have experienced depression, anxiety, and/or substance use. Our team is extremely thankful to all the families who join the HBCD sStudy and will strive to provide a comfortable, welcoming experience at each study visit!
