ABOUT US
WE ARE... Penn State HBCD! The lively Penn State University Park team led by Dr. Koraly Perez-Edgar works together to provide families with a welcoming and engaging experience as they participate in meaningful scientific research from pregnancy throughout childhood. Just like how there are many aspects that shape a child’s development, the Penn State team is dedicated to all the big and small aspects that shape our families' experiences throughout their time participating in HBCD. Whether it's the first prenatal visit at the Noll Laboratory, an MRI visit at the Chandlee Building, or one of the many visits at the main participant nursery and activity room in the Moore Building (just a 10-minute walk from the iconic Penn State Creamery), the team guides families through visits using their experience and knowledge of infant and child development. While team members are thoroughly trained in parent and child data collection methods, including biospecimen collection, MRI, and EEG, the team is also dedicated to all the little details that allow participants to feel supported, including providing helpful resources, answering any and all questions, and actively practicing cultural humility and empathetic listening. WE ARE... the Penn State University Park HBCD team, and WE ARE... excited to work with the most important members of our team, the families!
